Question by vash sunglasses ~Catholic~: What is the difference between Eastern Meditation and Christian Meditation?
aka What did the word “meditation” mean BEFORE the Eastern style of meditation became popular in the West.
Again, I would like to mention that Christians used “meditation” WAY before Eastern Meditation became popular in the West.
Ok, how about this: If a Christian from 1000AD was going to use meditation as a Christian spiritual practice, how would they go about it?

Question by Jcd: Is there a difference between having Buddhism as a philosophy and Buddhist philosophy?
I mean, Buddhist philosophy itself is about their traditions, culture and stuff but I think Buddhism “as a” philosophy means another thing. Am I getting it wrong? Are they just conveying the same things?
@Sisyphus: True, but what I really mean is that, if there is a difference. The Buddhist Philosophy teaches its ways. But what about Buddhism as a philosophy? Does it impart external views about the religion? I’m not having it as some form of exercise.. I just need it for a my research.

In other words, can a person cherry pick what suits them from the Buddhist teachings or do they have to follow all of it? Buddhism leaves the option open to the person… or does it? These are all jsut concepts, which are all emptiness anyway, making this exercise somewhat unnecessary.

Question by da_girl: What is the difference between a guardian angel and a spirit guide?
I always hear psychics mention the word “spirit guides” and it seems like they’re the ones giving them the answers when people ask them questions. I also heard that every person has a spirit guide, and in my friend’s case, she has been told that she has 2 guides, that’s why she is lucky in life. So now i want to ask what are the respective roles of spirit guides and guardian angels? And what is their purpose? What are the things that they do? Thanks.

Answer by Dylan
Spirit guides and guardian angels are two different entities from different religions, but all that aside, let’s say you have one of each. A spirit guide shows you the different paths you can take, and points out the way for your life. A guardian angel protects you from the consequences that come from your choices, and keeps you safe. Can both protect you from sin? Not really, but you can look to them for guidance and protection from all other sins of the same kind.

Question by Tonya in TX – Duck: In your opinion, what’s the difference between being religious and being spiritual?
If R&S were split into a Religion subsection and a Spiritual subsection, I know that the “religionists” wouldn’t stay on their side, and the “spiritualists” wouldn’t stay on their side, so I’m not suggesting or advocating that. And I know that you can be spiritual without being religious, and be religious and spiritual, but can you be religious and not spiritual? If you can’t, what’s the difference? Where’s the dividing line between being religious but not spiritual? And are you spiritual if you have a set of beliefs, which include not being a part of a religion? If so, is that a religion in and of itself? I know some atheists and agnostics say they are spiritual but not religious, yet some atheists believe their atheism is a religion? Where’s the line? When does being spiritual cross the line into a religion?
badmp35: So being spiritual is being comfortable in your own skin, while being religious is what allows you to be comfortable in your own skin? Or do I put words in your mouth?

beano: I agree, religion won’t save you. Christ said as much.

Religious people usually have a religion. Spiritual people dont necessarily “have” one but they can.

Question by Dude: What is the difference between a “vibe” and an “aura”?
Do both refer to centers of energy emanating from ourselves?

Best answer:

Answer by matt
‘Vibe’ pretty much means ‘feeling’ or ‘sensation’. ‘Aura’ is more specific – it actually means the essence of an individual that emanates from them. Generally it’s take to mean a highly distinctive character (which can almost be seen just by looking at the person).
